Imagine what it has meant to cancer patient Tricia Creasey and her family. The team from the TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” along with more than 1000 neighbors and professionals volunteering their time, have changed the Creaseys’ lives in the space of seven days. That’s how long it took to tear down their sagging, unsafe and inadequate house and replace it with one that meets the housing and medical needs of this family of five.
Tricia is a popular 7th-grade teacher who has been battling colon cancer for more than three years. She, her husband William, and their three daughters Brittany, Makenzie and Makayla were living in a decaying fixer-upper that featured a cracking foundation, holes in the walls and floor, a leaking roof and a single bathroom. Thanks to this project, they now enjoy a modern, efficient and safe home with four bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms. Tricia says, “It’s like I’m in a dream. This is not real. It’s unbelievable.”
We’re delighted to have been a part of this project by donating our faux brick paneling. We also kicked Steve (our CEO) out of the office for a week to go onsite in Lexington, North Carolina and install the panels. “It was an awesome experience to see the whole community come out and support this family,” Steve says. “Obviously everyone loves them.”
We’ve also been involved in three other Extreme Makeover projects, donating more faux wall panels as well as faux wood beams to help them along. Watch for us on upcoming episodes on ABC TV during the next few months. Please sign our mailing list so we can let you know when the upcoming episodes air.
Meanwhile, check out these clips from the Creasey project using faux brick paneling.
