DIY Kitchen Islands

Unique Island Ideas

An island is an excellent way to add more surface area to your kitchen. It’s often used for a variety of purposes; food preparation, meal seating, messy craft projects and more.

While your main focus may be on the island’s surface – wood, tile, granite, Formica, etc. – don’t forget about the sides. Whether you’re building a new island from scratch or remodeling an existing one, FauxPanels™ offer an affordable and great-looking design solution.

On this page we’re showcasing the DIY kitchen islands created by past customers, including photos and testimonials that demonstrate how incredibly the panels mimic the gorgeous finishes of real stone and wood.

Our panels are especially ideal for kitchen islands as they are easy to clean and made from moisture-proof polyurethane. You don’t need to worry about damage from humidity, extreme temperature or spills. They’re also extremely lightweight and easy to install with a simple “glue and screw” process.

Our Customers say:

These panels were just what I needed to complete the desired look of my kitchen without the hefty price tag. The faux stone perfectly compliments the wood in my log cabin. I am a beginning DIYer and this only took a few hours to install, I would HIGHLY recommend this product to all skill levels.

The photos of my completed project say it all! This product is awesome! I installed Norwich Colorado Stacked Stone panels in Earth color on my kitchen counter wall. I had never used table saw or any other saw before, but I decided to do this project myself. It's easy to cut the panel but it requires some skills to cut and assemble a perfect miter joint for corners. I would definitely recommend using textured calk and touch up kit for the perfect finished project.

I've received many compliments on my new wall. Since the panels look like real stone, my next project is fireplace upgrade.

I just installed some light fixtures on the stairwell, and I just finished my first concrete countertop for the kitchen island. The faux panels have been a big hit, I used them for our stairwell in the entry way going down to the basement. I also used them to cover the island in the kitchen after joining an extra base cabinet.

It is strikingly different looking now. I think it turned out nice (we are very happy with it). Thank you for your help and follow thru.
